报告人简介：

刘琳，香港中文大学理学院地球与环境科学系副教授、地球与大气科学研究生学部主任。本科毕业于武汉大学地球物理专业，2011年于美国科罗拉多大学取得博士学位，2011-2013年斯坦福大学George Thompson博士后，2021年获AGU John Wahr 青年科学家奖。综合运用空间大地测量、地球物理、遥感大数据与深度学习等跨学科方法，系统研究多年冻土与极地冰盖动态演变。在Nature, Nature Climate Change, Nature Communications, Review of Geophysics, Earth and Planetary Science Letters, Geophysical Research Letters, Environmental Research Letters, Remote Sensing of Environment, The Cryosphere 等期刊发表论文80余篇。

报告摘要：

Accumulating observation evidence shows widespread thawing and degradation of permafrost, or ground remains frozen perennially, in cold regions. Thawing permafrost has profound effects on terrestrial ecosystems, hydrologic and landscape processes, and key infrastructure. However, it is challenging to study and monitor permafrost, which is purely defined by its subsurface thermal condition. In this talk, I will present the integrated use of geodetic and remote sensing methods, including radar interferometry, GNSS Reflectometry, and deep learning, for mapping and quantifying permafrost degradation on the Tibetan Plateau and gaining quantitative understandings of seasonal, decadal, gradual, as well as abrupt changes in ice-rich permafrost.
